Since our first museum project with the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1998, we have dedicated our efforts to envisioning and realizing the most effective ways to engage the public in the arts through the use of digital technology.

One challenge we particularly enjoy is showcasing fascinating and complicated stories throughout history. Finding ways to encourage visitors to develop a richer appreciation of different cultures and lesser-told stories of the past is one of our sweet spots.

From alchemy to zero gravity, we have worked with numerous science and nature centers, natural history museums, and aquariums. We collaborate with clients to present dynamic experiences of cutting edge science or explorations of their rich history of innovation and discovery.

From the Revolution to the present day, we have partnered with the Smithsonian, military historians, and veterans' organizations to bring to life many of the lesser-told stories of United States military history and the impact of those wars on our citizenry.

Night Kitchen continues to explore the rapidly-evolving potential of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. When these game-changing immersive platforms started to gain traction in recent years, we dove right in and developed our mobile AR/VR app platform MuseumHost. We have also produced several virtual reality projects, including immersive guided tours and VR dome installations.

We create interactive installations that encourage insight, dialog, and personal connection, not to mention a good bit of fun. In working closely with our clients, our projects aim to foster deeper learning and social interaction by creating opportunities for competition, cooperation, and meaningful exchange.

We love the opportunity to take a deep dive into some of the most compelling topics, from art to culture to science, and produce engaging and informative educational experiences online. We have the great privilege of crafting in-depth explorations of complex and fascinating topics for all audiences. Our online exhibitions bring together dynamic visuals, audio, and video, to create memorable interactive experiences.

iOS App? Android App? Web app? You name it, we have leveraged our expertise in native iOS, Android, and cross-platform development to create apps and responsive, mobile-first design solutions. We are also able to adapt and redesign existing web-based experiences for optimal mobile and tablet delivery.

We have collaborated with art, science, and cultural organizations to produce hundreds of videos and animations for in-gallery and online interpretative storytelling. We oversee all aspects of production, including concepting, scripting, shooting, post-production, and integration into websites and interactive experiences.

Games are the fastest growing digital engagement approach for informal learning spaces! Yet creating games that achieve learning goals, are fun to play, and don't break the bank is tricky business. We've got you. Our team not only develops games, many of us studied game design and, of course, we are avid gamers ourselves.

The work we do is grounded in a solid understanding of both the latest learning approaches and the evolving needs and desires of teachers and students. Applying a constructivist, interactive approach to learning, we use storytelling, scaffolding, object-based learning, and other proven techniques to achieve a project’s educational mission.

Whether its collections, archives or digital assets, we get metadata. We understand taxonomies. We’ve wrangled with some of the most complex and robust collections of art, artifacts, and documents there are. And won. Night Kitchen has collaborated with institutions of all types and sizes to integrate their collections — objects and artifacts, documents and archives, oral histories and media — into dynamic online experiences. Providing faceting, filtering, and visual browsing, we deliver rich collections experiences that our clients can use to integrate objects and metadata throughout their site via tags, keywords, and relationships.

We have extensive experience with content management and learning management systems. We are platform agnostic, and have utilized a range of LAMP-based (Wordpress, Drupal, Strapi, custom PHP) and ASP.NET (Ektron, custom ASP.NET) solutions. Our preferred tool for simple content management is Wordpress, an open-source industry leader. Through strategic consulting we identifying the best platform to meet our clients' needs and leverage their resources and capacity.
